Duncan Field
South & Elm Street
Hastings, NE 68901
The History
Built in 1940 as a public works project, Duncan Field is one
of Nebraska's best-loved sports venues, known for it's deep outfield
surrounded by a red brick wall. It was the site of the American
Legion's "Little World Series" three times, and Hall of Famer Yogi Berra
played baseball here in his youth. Originally known as Pershing Field,
it was re-named Duncan Field in honor of Robert Duncan, an avid baseball fan
from Hastings. Today, it is home to Hastings College Bronco Baseball
and American Legion Youth Baseball. This landmark facility serves the
community as a tourist site and hosts over 100 events each year.
The Renovation Project
This aging facility has not received any major renovation
for over 40 years and is in dire need of plumbing and electrical updates.
The proposed renovation includes a roof and additional spectator seating, a
new concession stand, restrooms, locker rooms for teams and officials, a new
press box and an elevator to meet ADA requirements.
The Challenge
The Duncan Field Challenge invites the community to help
raise $2.5 million necessary to restore and preserve this historic facility.
We need your help to ensure Duncan Field will be available for the dreams of
future generations, just as it has in the past.
Questions and/or donations may be directed to the Duncan Field
Committee at 402-461-2356. Thank you for your generosity.
