SUMMARY

The City of Hastings, Nebraska is seeking applicants for an Accounting Manager.  Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, this individual will manage, direct and coordinate accounting functions of the Finance department.  This position is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, ensure appropriate accounting control procedures, and perform various other professional accounting duties for the support of the departments.

Typical duties include:

  • Oversee preparation of financial statements;
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of the accounting staff involved in accounting activities;
  • Provide information as requested;
  • Coordinate the annual financial audit; 
  • Perform and provide analytical analysis of financial results; and
  • Assist and coordinate with the Finance Director the annual budget process.

qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration, or field field; and
  • Five years of experience in accounting work, preferable public accounting.
  • A relevant professional designation, MPA, MBA, or CPA is preferred.

HOURS

Full time, day hours.
This is a FLSA exempt position.
May assist during emergencies.
