Performs a variety of work associated with surveying, drafting, designing, and construction of utility installations including the electrical production and distribution systems, communication and street lighting systems, gas distribution systems, water and sanitary sewer distribution systems, storms sewers, asphalt and concrete street projects, and other public works projects and programs.

qualifications

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a high school diploma plus two years of related technical or college training in Computer-Aided-Design (CAD), engineering technology, civil engineering or a closely related field; and a minimum of two years related experience. Experience related to utilities and public works projects preferred. Must possess valid State driver’s license.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Plans, designs, and makes recommendations for the city electric, gas, water, sewer, street light, asphalt and concrete roadway and storm sewer improvements, major highway and street projects, extensions and expansions.
  • Surveys project sites using GPS rover equipment to obtain and analyze topographical details of sites and right-of-way.
  • Drafts and calculates field notes to document quantities, alignment, grade, and locations.
  • Makes final sketch of proposed drawing.

HOURS

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, day-time hours.
