Description of work

Responsible for the development and management of all aspects of safety. Specific responsibilities include monitoring and instituting training programs necessary to keep personnel updated on current industry safety standards, design changes, operational procedures and safety programs; developing department budgets, business plans, and developing metrics and reporting results. Responsible program implementation, coordination of training, and recordkeeping.

qualifications

Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with at least two years position related career experience.

Essential functions of the job

  • Lead safety initiatives to develop a proactive approach in every area of concern.
  • Help employees with an illness or injury and decide upon proper course of action with each situation.
  • Lead the Safety Committee, and lead investigations on all accidents and near-misses, developing communication regarding future prevention.
  • Conduct monthly and annual safety inspections on equipment.
  • Train and certify employees in all areas of safety, including lock out/tag out, confined space, CPR.
  • Consistently administer safety policies and procedures to all employees.
  • Provide employees one central location for safety concerns, coordination of testing, record keeping and safety training.

This is a FLSA exempt position. Hours may require attending meetings or events which may be in the evening and/or on weekends.

Residency requirement

30 minutes from duty station, per Google maps within six months of hire.
