This position serves as a member of the information technology (IT) department's management team and under general direction plans, organizes, implements, and administers city, utilities and emergency services network infrastructures and IT systems. Coordinates planning, design, and policy development with other IT Managers and the Director of Information Technology to align with business and IT priorities.

qualifications

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with major course work in Information Technology or a related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a networking environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Analyze and maintain policies, procedures, and other preventive measures to ensure compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), PCI DSS regulatory requirements, and other compliancy measures.
  • Assist with compliance related submittals including NERC/CJIS/HIPAA/PCI DSS audits, self-reports, mitigation plans, and other data requests.
  • Evaluate infrastructure and systems needs and their integration with existing systems from a cyber and networking perspective to ensure availability for all networks.
  • Network infrastructure and server systems design, implementation, and administration to ensure system performance, availability, recoverability, and compliance.
  • Work with the Cyber Security Specialist and Network Administrator to develop, maintain, implement, and evaluate cybersecurity policies, practices, standards, systems, and procedures, including cybersecurity training and testing platforms, firewall security appliances, and email protection systems.
  • Coordinate activities of technical staff to implement and maintain a reliable infrastructure and ensure high service delivery.
  • Oversee internally used software, databases, and systems, including planning, coordinating and executing major internal IT projects, improvements, updates, upgrades, migrations and outages.
  • Coordinate and architect backup and disaster recovery systems to ensure data integrity and high availability.
  • Participates on and/or leads teams to ensure successful implementation of new systems or upgrades to existing systems.
  • Procure network equipment, arrange scheduled upgrades and investigate faults in the network. Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
  • Assess network requirements, wiring and hardware requirements and devise plans for the organization. Stay abreast of the latest developments in technology.

HOURS

This position is a full-time FLSA exempt. Monday thru Friday; day hours. May be called upon at other times as required.
