Maintains solid waste landfill/grounds/associated environmental sites and facilities for the City of Hastings. 

Essential functions of the job

  • Maintain existing grounds/facilities; mowing, trimming, edging, pruning
  • Perform litter control, debris, wood, at various city facilities and adjacent properties
  • Use of hand tools, riding power equipment to perform grounds maintenance tasks
  • Load customers vehicles with mulch utilizing skid steer loader
  • Operate hook box truck to unload at landfill area
  • Perform light maintenance/repairs on facility equipment and vehicle/equipment cleaning
  • Assist in vehicle/equipment preventative maintenance program

QUALIFICATIONS      

  • At least one year of experience in grounds and building maintenance, and one year of operation of light grounds maintenance equipment
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by the City’s insurance carrier to drive city’s vehicles.

Special requirements

  • A commercial driver's license (CDL) will be required to be obtained and maintained within six months of date of hire.

HOURS

40 hours per week, Monday - Friday and every other Saturday morning.
