Battle of the Badges Car Wash

The votes have been tallied, a winner was declared, and now it’s time for the victor to reap the rewards from this year’s Battle of the Badges blood drive with the American Red Cross.

The competition pitted the Hastings Police Department against Hastings Fire and Rescue on June 8 in an effort to collect the most blood donations on their behalf. The Hastings Police Department came out on top with 66 votes compared to Hastings Fire and Rescue with 50 votes.

On July 28, both organizations will meet in the parking lot just north of City Hall at 220 N. Hastings Ave. at 3 p.m. for a Battle of the Badges car wash. Since HPD garnered the most votes, Chief Adam Story earned a car wash from HFR Chief Brad Starling.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to practice social distancing by maintaining a 6-foot distance from other visitors.
