City focuses on storm cleanup efforts

The City of Hastings Street Department and Parks and Recreation Department are working on tree limb cleanup due to freezing rain and ice accumulation.

The Street Department is working to condition roadways to ensure the safety of Hastings drivers while temporarily blocking off streets where fallen limbs and branches have created hazards.

The Parks and Recreation Department is prioritizing the cleanup of limbs from roadways to restore routes for drivers and emergency vehicles.

Crews will then work to remove large fallen or dangerous limbs from terrace trees as they are able. We ask for your patience during this time as some departments are short staffed to due COVID-19 quarantine orders.

Residents are encouraged to use caution when approaching hanging limbs, and to avoid limbs near power lines entirely.

The Landfill will allow free disposal of tree limbs from terrace trees for Hastings residents only during regular hours through Saturday, Nov. 21. Regular hours are 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday – Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. No commercial tree services, as the cost of the Landfill is in their fees.

Residents should call the city if they have a driveway or street blocked. Please use the following numbers:

Street Department: 402-461-2341
Parks and Recreation Department: 402-461-2324
Engineering Department: 402-461-2330
City Landfill: 402-463-0705
