Stop sign placement to change at Hastings intersection

The stop signs at the intersection of 14th Street and St. Joseph Avenue will be rearranged to improve traffic flow beginning on Friday, March 19.

Currently, the intersection is a two-way stop with signs posted on 14th Street. On Friday, crews will remove those stop signs and place them on St. Joseph Avenue instead. The intersection will still remain a two-way stop.

The change will make 14th Avenue a through street from Burlington Avenue to Elm Avenue, improving traffic flow for Hastings drivers.

Additional flagging will be installed on the new signs to bring awareness to the change.

The change was approved by the Hastings City Council at the March 8 council meeting.
