Police investigating pellet gun injury as accidental

At approximately 3:46 p.m. on Wednesday, the Hastings Police Department and Hastings Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the 1500 block of West 2nd Street for a male subject with a gunshot wound inside of a residence.

Upon arrival, officers were able to quickly secure the scene and determine there was no further risk to the safety of the public or those inside of the residence. Officers located a 43-year-old male subject with a non-life-threatening injury to his arm. The male subject was transported by ambulance to Mary Lanning Healthcare and was released shortly after. 

HPD is investigating the incident as an accidental discharge of a pellet gun.
