Share the Warmth program begins for another season

The Hastings Utilities Department and the Salvation Army are teaming up to keep families warm all winter long.

The Share the Warmth program is back for another year, which runs from Dec. 1 to April 30.

The program provides security to those in the community who may be unable to afford their utility bill during the colder months. The program was designed in coordination with the Salvation Army, Catholic Social Services and Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska. It was specifically tailored to assist the following people:

  • Individuals 60 years of age or older
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Anyone experiencing unusual needs

To become a donor to the Share the Warmth program, customers can fill out the form here. Customers will be given the option to add a specific amount of money to their bill each month, which will be sent directly to the Salvation Army for distribution. The contribution is tax deductible and the agreement may be changed or canceled at any time by calling (402) 463-1371. 100% of the funds collected by the Hastings Utilities Department for the Share the Warmth program will be sent directly to The Salvation Army to assist customers of the Hastings Utilities Department.

If you need funds to assist you with your utility bill, please contact the Salvation Army directly at (402) 463-0529.
