Newly paved cemetery drive ready for Memorial Day
While the current phase of the Parkview Cemetery paving project is not yet complete, paving of the main stretch of the project is done and ready for Memorial Day.
Morten Construction of Kearney began work on Phase 4 of the paving project earlier this spring after being awarded the contract for the project in 2023 in the amount of $367,084. Phase 4 was originally scheduled for completion in 2023.
Phase 4 of the project is now 40% complete. Morten crews will resume work after Memorial Day on the side streets that connect the new concrete drive to the previously completed Phase 3, to the north.
The Parkview Cemetery paving project, which is replacing crumbling asphalt with concrete, began in 2020.
The project has six phases, with a phase typically completed each year.
Phase 5 includes roads in the southern most part of the cemetery. Phase 6 will repave the circle drive near the cemetery entrance.
