3D Printer
The Makerspace currently has three 3D printers available to create your project. With these 3D printers, you can print your own designs, or download print-ready projects from websites in file formats .stl or .obj. Files can then be converted into .GCODE format for printing.
The LulzBot TAZ Workhorse has an 11.02"x11.02"x11.02" space and uses 2.85mm filament.
The Creality K1 printers use 1.75mm filament and are closed-framed models with 8.66" square and 9.84" tall printing chambers.
Age Requirements & Certification:
Certification training with library staff is required. Certification takes approximately one hour and may be scheduled in advance by calling the library at (402) 461-2346 or by scheduling an appointment online via our Library Calendar. (Users certified on the LulzBot TAZ Workhorse will need to be certified on the newer Creality K1 printer.)
Users 16 years and older can use the machine unsupervised after completing certification. Anyone ages 14-15 years old is welcome to use the machines after certification and if accompanied by an adult 18 and older who has also been certified.
Things to Know:
After you are certified on the 3D Printer, you will be able to use the machine to print useful items like key chains, decorative objects for holidays, figurines, and much more out of plastic filament.
Choose your filament from a variety of colors offered in the Makerspace; projects can also be painted after they have been fully printed. Prints cost $.10 per gram of filament used. Payment is due before the print is started.
