Butch has lived in Hastings since 1979.  He grew up in the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania area and after enlisting in the US Air Force in 1972, he was stationed in Watertown, New York.  Butch was transferred to Hastings, Nebraska in 1979 and has lived here ever since.  After retiring from the Air Force in 1992, Butch became a Hastings Police Officer, retiring as a Patrol Sergeant in 2008.  He then trained as a Paramedic  and worked for Rural Metro Ambulance, Midwest Medical Transport, and was a Critical Care Paramedic for Life Team Critical Care Transport.  Butch finally retired after working as a Paramedic at Mary Landing Emergency Department.  He is in his second term on the Hasting City Council.

Butch’s wife Kathy retired from the Hastings Police Department after 40 years as a Police Officer, Detective, and 911 Supervisor.  Butch and Kathy have five grown children, and 13 grandchildren.

Butch has spent his entire life in service to his country and community.  He wants to continue to help Hastings grow by continuing to make Hastings a progressive community and making Hastings a place where our children want to live, work, and raise a family.
