Dr. Corey Stutte, a sixth-generation Nebraskan and native of Hastings, graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 2000.  Prior to being elected Mayor of Hastings in 2016, he served on the Hastings Public Schools Board of Education and the City of Hastings Planning and Zoning Commission.  Corey currently serves on the Hastings Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Hastings Economic Development Corporation Executive Board.  Corey lives in the Central Hastings Historic District with his wife Laura, his daughter Lila and his beagle Husker.

Corey founded GeoPioneer in 2011, as a geopolitical risk advisory firm, while working for U.S. Pacific Command and Special Operations Command Pacific in Hawaii. Since then, GeoPioneer’s data, analysis and technology solutions have been providing innovative insight for clients in various complex environments and industries. GeoPioneer is now headquartered in Hastings, Nebraska. In addition, Corey also serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Hastings College, where he teaches international relations and public policy courses.

Prior to founding GeoPioneer, Corey worked for GeoEye (formerly SPADAC), where he led a team of analysts providing multi-layer, multi-INT predictive analysis in support of Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC) and U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM). In this position, Corey stood up a team that provides all-source, socio-cultural and geospatial analysis to narrow the search space for government decision-makers. Corey also worked for SAIC and served as the USPACOM Socio-Cultural Dynamics Program Requirements and Engagement Manager. In this position, Corey advised leadership on methodology for the USPACOM socio-cultural analytic framework, assisted in the coordination of USPACOM Theater Campaign Plan (TCP) Intelligence Task List (ITL), prioritized socio-cultural requirements for internal and external academic/industry production and performed all-source/socio-cultural analysis in support of those requirements. Prior to working for USPACOM, Corey held various faculty, research and administrative leadership positions within academia and government at such institutions as the University of South Florida, University of Central Florida (UCF), University of Nebraska at Omaha, Florida Benchmarking Consortium and Polk County Board of County Commissioners (Florida). Corey also served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and has served at U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Pacific Command.

Corey graduated with a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from UCF with a dissertation entitled An Examination of Central Asian Geopolitics through the Expected Utility Model: The New Great Game. He also holds an M.S. in International Relations with a concentration in National Security Affairs from Troy University and a B.A. in Organizational Communication from UCF.
