Tree planting Friday at Parkview Cemetery to honor fallen heroes

The City of Hastings Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Nebraska Memorial Forest project to plant 150 trees in honor of fallen veterans and first responders.

The planting will take place on Friday, Oct. 25 on the far east section of Parkview Cemetery. Representatives of the Nebraska Memorial Forest are scheduled to plant the trees beginning at 10 a.m.

Volunteers are needed to plant trees. Anyone who would like to help can just arrive at 10 a.m., Friday to the far east section of Parkview Cemetery ready to help.

The Nebraska Memorial Forest is working throughout the state to plant a tree for each fallen Nebraska military member and first responder.

The 150 trees, which were paid for by the Nebraska Memorial Forest, include several different kinds of trees.

“We’re proud to partner with the Nebraska Memorial Forest to plant these trees and honor fallen Nebraska military members and first responders,” said Aaron Hyde, Hastings tree planting committee member said. “The addition of these trees will also be an attribute to the east edge of Parkview Cemetery.”
