Newer park restrooms stay open for time being during winterization

Drinking fountains and older parks restrooms closed on Friday for the winter; but four newer, heated restrooms will remain open as long into the winter season as possible.

Hastings Parks and Recreation staff worked this week to winterize restrooms at the following parks:

  • Brickyard Park
  • Carter Park
  • Chautauqua Park
  • Highland Park
  • Libs Park
  • Oswego Park
  • Rec Fields

Warm fall temperatures allowed these older, non-heated restrooms and drinking fountains to stay operational about a week longer than usual.

Restrooms at Crosier Park, Heartwell Park, Lake Hastings and Lincoln Park have small, electric heaters that allow them to stay open longer than the older restrooms.

However, even newer restrooms cannot withstand severe winter cold temperatures.

The City of Hastings will inform the public when these four restrooms close for the season.

Please take the closures into consideration when planning outdoor gatherings at the parks over the winter season.
