Lightweight debris prohibited at Landfill March 4 due to high wind
The Hastings Solid Waste Landfill at 725 S. Southern Hills Drive is prohibiting lightweight debris the rest of the day on Tuesday March 4, while a wind advisory is in place.
With wind speeds of 30 mph and gusts of more than 45 mph, the wind advisory began at 11:30 a.m.
Heavier debris, such as wood waste, construction debris, furniture and even standard household trash – if it is properly bagged – still is permitted at the landfill during a wind advisory.
The forecast for Wednesday, March 5 again calls for high wind speeds. Landfill staff will determine in the morning whether lightweight debris is again prohibited on Wednesday.
