Aquacourt, Duncan Field parking lots to be used as drop off points for real Christmas trees
The Hastings Parks and Recreation Department will offer two locations for residents to dispose of real Christmas trees after the holiday until Sunday Jan. 18, 2026.
The following free locations are available:
- Aquacourt Water Park parking lot, 2200 W. Third St.
- Duncan Field parking lot, at East South Street and South Cedar Avenue.
Each of these sites will be marked with barricades.
Please dispose of only real trees and remove all decorations and tinsel before disposal. Also, if a tree is bagged, please remove the bag before leaving the tree.
Trees left at the disposal locations are reused in a couple different ways.
Some of the trees are taken to the Hastings Solid Waste Landfill where the trees are ground up and used as wood chips. Trees are also taken to Lake Hastings and put in the lake to be used as fish habitat.
