Spook-Tober Halloween movie series returns to Hastings Museum
Spook -Tober is returning to the Hastings Museum for a second year, bringing a month of Halloween favorites and seasonal films. With tickets just $6 and concessions starting at $3, the October film series offers an affordable way for families, friends, and movie fans to enjoy a variety of films in the Museum’s Lied Super Screen Theatre.
This year’s lineup features a mix of comedy, magic, family -friendly adventure, classic
horror, and Día de los Muertos storytelling, giving moviegoers plenty of opportunities
to find a film that fits their Halloween mood.
The Spook -Tober lineup includes:
• “Death Becomes Her” (1992) - Saturday, October 10 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. This
dark comedy follows two longtime rivals who discover a mysterious secret
promising eternal youth, with hilarious and unexpected consequences.
• “Practical Magic” (1998) - Saturday, October 17 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sandra
Bullock and Nicole Kidman star as sisters and witches who navigate family,
romance, and a little magical trouble in this beloved supernatural comedy.
• “Monster House” (2006) - Monday, October 19 at 2 p.m. This animated
adventure follows three kids who discover that the house across the street is
much more than it seems, making it a fun choice for families looking for a little
Halloween excitement.
• “Frankenstein” (1931) - Saturday, October 24 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Experience
one of cinema’s most iconic horror classics on the Super Screen as Dr.
Frankenstein brings a creature to life with terrifying results.
• “Coco” (2017) - Saturday, October 31 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Celebrate Día de los
Muertos early with this heartwarming animated adventure as Miguel journeys
into the Land of the Dead and discovers more about his family and himself.
“Last year was a great introduction to Spook -Tober, and we’re excited to bring it back
for a second year,” said Jenn Quig, Visitor Services Director. “It’s a fun way to fill the
Super Screen with unique movies and give people another reason to come enjoy a
movie together.”
Tickets for all Spook -Tober films are just $6, with concessions available starting at $3.
