HU to kick off Food Truck Fridays on Aug. 22

The City of Hastings Utility Department is organizing a monthly lunchtime food truck event planned to take place year-round.

Food Truck Fridays will debut Aug. 22 and take place in the Highland Park parking lot just east of the Hastings Museum. Food Truck Fridays will begin at 11 a.m. and is anticipated to last until 2 p.m.

The concept for Food Truck Fridays was inspired by similarly named events organized by other city departments. 

The Hastings Parks and Recreation Department held Food Truck Friday events throughout the summer at different city parks. Hastings Museum will also hold a Food Truck Fridays with other activities as part of Kool-Aid Days the evening of Aug. 15. 

The Hastings Utilities’ Food Truck Fridays are generally planned to take place the third Friday of each month beginning at 11 a.m. The next one is scheduled for Sept. 19.

Members of the Utility Employee Committee Organization are organizing the Hastings Utilities’ Food Truck Fridays as a way for City of Hastings employees to spend time together, but in a venue that is also open to the public. Highland Park is centrally located between the North Denver Station utility office, Fire Station 1 and Hastings Museum.

Pitt Bull Catering Co. is slated to be on site for the initial Food Truck Friday lunchtime event on Aug. 22.

There is an opportunity for more food trucks to participate on Aug. 22 as well as future Food Truck Fridays.
