Scope of South Street manhole work reduced and addressed on July 8, 2026
After further evaluation of the manhole at South Street and Burlington Avenue, the Hastings Utility Department underground construction crew determined the needed repairs were less extensive than anticipated and could be made without removing concrete, closing the road and detouring traffic. The lane closures and detour scheduled to begin Thursday, July 9, 2026 will not be necessary.
The repairs to the manhole at South Burlington Avenue and South Street, plus repairs to a nearby manhole at South Burlington Avenue and A Street were completed Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2026.
