Parks Maintenance Worker II

DEPARTMENT

Parks 

SUMMARY

Maintain public grounds, cemetery grounds, equipment, buildings, parks, athletic fields, and facilities for the city.  Exercise independent judgment in decision making.  Ensure that work of crew is performed to departmental standards.  Prioritize work.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent; two years' experience in repair and maintenance of grounds, buildings, and/or facilities. Irrigation experience preferred. Mechanic experience preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Possession of or ability to obtain CDL license within one year of employment.
    Possess and maintain herbicide license.  Must be obtained within one year of date of hire. 

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Assist in the training and direct activities of seasonal and Parks Maintenance Worker I employees.
  • Serve as a lead worker of a crew performing a combination of duties:
    • Equipment repair
    • Landscaping
    • Grounds keeping
    • Pesticide handling
    • Irrigation
    • Tree trimming
    • Mechanical Maintenance

Residency requirement

30 minutes from duty station, per Google maps within six months of hire.

HOURS

40 hours per week.
Monday thru Friday, day hours with occasional evening and weekend hours.
Requires being on call on a rotation basis.
