Hastings Fire & Rescue urges fireworks caution

High winds and heat are in the forecast this afternoon and evening throughout Nebraska, including the city of Hastings. These conditions can cause detonated fireworks to drift far away.

The current weather conditions have the potential to cause small fires, with the potential to grow large very quickly.

In addition to the high winds and temperatures, neighboring counties are experiencing low relative humidity, which increases their risk for fires.

Hastings Fire & Rescue asks the community to demonstrate consideration for our neighbors, and responsibility with the use of fireworks. Follow City Code, and report suspected fires and injures immediately to 911.
