Property Transfer: HPL Foundation
The Hastings City Council accepted the transfer of property located at 302 North Denver Avenue from the Hastings Library Foundation, to the City of Hastings Nebraska on Tuesday, September 27th.
Funds for the purchase of this property were raised by the Hastings Public Library Foundation. The deed for the property restricts its use to be for a purpose related to the Library, which is located at 314 North Denver Avenue.
“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to expand our footprint and develop a greenspace that can be used by the Hastings Public Library and the greater Hastings community,” says Ross Struss, Hastings Public Library Board Member. “This will be a wonderful addition to Downtown Hastings. With that said, none of this would be possible without the Hastings Public Library Foundation and the donors and friends of the library who made the purchase a reality. We truly owe them a debt of gratitude."
Going forward, plans will be made to demolish the existing structure, which includes a former gas station and petroleum tanks. Additionally, the Hastings Public Library Board will begin the process of gathering public input in order to develop the property into a greenspace that will benefit the community.
