Upgrades to gas system in Lochland area

Hastings Utilities is installing a 4-inch plastic gas main in the south terrace of Madden Road  over the next few months as the weather will allow as a part of our continuing gas system maintenance and upgrade. It will require a short interruption of gas service, which Hastings Utilities will attempt to minimize. The new gas main will be installed and then individual gas service lines will be installed and connected to it.

Hastings Utilities gas service line practice is to install a new plastic service line with the new plastic main. The costs to install a plastic service line to replace the existing steel service line from the property line to the gas meter will be at the cost of Hastings Utilities. When the new services are installed, the gas meters will be moved to the place where the gas enters the house from where they currently are at the rear property lines.

Hastings Utilities is aware of the impact construction can have on a neighborhood so every attempt will be made to minimize any inconvenience. Directional Drilling construction methods will be used whenever possible for the installation of the new pipes to minimize excavations. A representative from Hastings Utilities will contact customers on an individual basis to explain and answer questions about how construction will affect property owners. As soon as the project is completed, hydro seeding will be done on the city right of way.
