Tree-trimming effort to begin Monday, May 15

Crews from Looks Great Services, a contractor from Columbia, Mississippi will begin tree-trimming efforts in Hastings on Monday, May 15.

There are two areas to be addressed in this project.

The north boundary is Seventh Street between Denver and Elm avenues, extending along Elm Avenue north to 12th Street and along 12th Street between Elm Avenue and east of Seventh Avenue. The east boundary extends between 12th Street and Second Street just west of the Sara Drive neighborhood. The south boundary follows the BNSF Railway and Second Street.

Area 2 is an L-shaped space in west Hastings. The south boundary is Second Street, plus Laird Avenue to the BNSF Railway. The west boundary is Marian Road from Second Street to Ninth Street. The north boundary is Ninth Street between Marian Road and Tilden Avenue, Tilden Avenue between Ninth and 12th Streets, 12th Street between Tilden and Crane avenues, and Seventh Street between Crane and Baltimore avenues. Baltimore Avenue between Seventh and Second streets forms the east boundary.

The work is anticipated to take several months to complete.

Looks Great Services is continuing work the city initiated in 2020 with a previous contractor to trim back trees away utility lines. The neighborhoods included in these two areas were not addressed in the previous tree-trimming project.
