Brickyard Park Independence Day festivities postponed until July 5

Independence Day activities at Brickyard Park have been postponed until July 5 due to weather. The schedule will remain the same on Wednesday:

5:30: Doubles cornhole tournament and food trucks start

7-10: Luke Mills concert

10 p.m.: Fireworks display begins

Postponing the municipal fireworks display at Brickyard Park has no effect on the sales and use of personal fireworks, both of which are to end at midnight Tuesday, according to city ordinance.

Teams competing in the cornhole tournament are paying registration fees, but admission to the park, concert and fireworks show are free.

Brickyard Park is located near D Street and Woodland Avenue in southwestern Hastings.

Hastings Fire & Rescue will be accepting unused private, commercial-grade fireworks for proper disposal through July 31 at either fire station, 1313 N. Hastings Ave., or 1145 S. Hastings Ave. The fireworks must be received in person by fire station personnel between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
