Reopening of lazy river scheduled for Friday, July 7

The reopening of the lazy river is set for Friday, July 7.

Repairs to the lazy river have been completed. A significant hole was discovered in one of the return pipes of the lazy river. The damaged pipe has since been replaced.

The pipes were surveyed using pipe inspection cameras. The pool is filled and now will take a couple days to get the chemicals balanced again.

A huge thanks to Hastings Utilities Water Department staff members for their expertise and assistance in repairing the leak.

The lazy river began losing water late on June 6. Parks and Recreation Department staff members were adding 20,000 gallons of water per day to the lazy river from June 7 until the decision was made to close the feature on June 12. That replacement amount represents 10% of the 200,000-gallon total within the lazy river.
