Landfill to hold free tire recycling event April 24-29

Adams County Residents have the opportunity to recycle used tires thanks to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy.

The Hastings Solid Waste Department will hold a free tire recycling event April 24 to 29 at 725 South Southern Hills Drive.

Several rules apply:

No tires accepted after 350 tons is collected
Vehicles with Adams County license plates only
No rims
All participants must unload their tires.
Tires must be free of ice, water and debris.
No tire retailers/dealers or any business collecting state tire disposal fees.
All vehicles must follow the flow of scale traffic and provide contact information for grant documentation. Anticipate waiting in line.
No tire larger than a standard agriculture tractor tire or heavy equipment tires.
For those who have a significant amount/or multiple loads, please remember there are others that need to utilize this grant as well.
