Give Hastings Day 2024 for Hastings Public Library

Hastings Public Library is excited to once again be part of Give Hastings Day for the event's 11th year. This unique fundraiser allows community members the opportunity to donate funds to nonprofit organizations that are meaningful to them. Gifts from Give Hastings Day help support library programs that foster a love of reading in children, beginning as early as the first day of a child's life.

Hastings Public Library's 2024 goal is $15,000 to fund new, upcoming programs. These programs include the following: A permanent story stroll exhibit where families can walk and read a story at the same time, combining outdoor activity with literacy and fun. Programs focused on the resources and tools in the Makerspace for teens and adults to build STEAM skills, teach new technology, and express creativity. Digital literacy classes curated for seniors to build their confidence and meet their needs for using computers and other technology. Reading challenges for teens and adults, like 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and Reading Dragons, that reward readers as they progress as well as book clubs that are concentrated on teen and adult interests and genres.

At HPL, one of our goals is to inspire a love of reading and learning through fun and engaging programs. Whatever a person’s age, they deserve to have programs that allow them to meet others that share their interests, learn something new, or do something fun that helps reduce stress. The funds for the library’s programs come from the Hastings Library Foundation, which relies on donations in order for us to give our community free, exciting programs for all ages. By donating on Give Hastings Day, you'll be helping support existing programs and start new ones.

Early giving began April 15 and continues through midnight on May 2. Donations can be made online here. Checks, made payable to the Hastings Community Foundation, can be mailed to the library, dropped off at the Hastings Community Foundation or the library, or given at Give Hastings Day Headquarters on May 2.
