Board Meeting - July 18, 2016

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS

A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held at City Hall on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. to meet in a joint worksession with the Hastings City Council.  This meeting was preceded by notice duly published in the Hastings Tribune on Friday, July 15, 2016 and by notices duly posted in the lobby of Hastings Utilities, 1228 North Denver Avenue, and the City Hall, 220 N. Hastings Avenue, and was therefore open to the public.

Present: Hunt, Kully, Shoemaker, Dewalt

Also Present: Meyer, Hartman, Crecelius, Davis, Schawang, Vrooman, Ptak, City Councilpersons – Duval, Skutknik, Krings, Hoops, Goebel, Odom, Niemeyer, and Harrington; General City Staff – Patterson, Vorderstrasse, Wacker, Woolery, Hassenstab, Gilbert; Mike Howie, Jack Giddings

Chairman Shoemaker stated that the Board of Public Works is subject to the Open Meetings Laws and acknowledged that the Open Meetings Law poster has been posted in the room.  He also declared a quorum of members present after President of the Council Kathy Duval opened their meeting.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

No discussion was held on either of the following listed Agenda Items:

  4.  Meet with Hastings City Council on Ordinance 4473

  5.  Discussion and Possible Recommendation on Utility Relocations for Downtown      Block Project

At the invitation of the Council President Board members Kully and Dewalt participated in the City Council's discussion regarding the work of the Committee which the Mayor has appointed to address the Novak Study recommendations.  See the Minutes of the City Council Worksession of 7-18-2016 for further information about the Council's discussions on this matter.

After the Council adjourned their meeting, Chairman Shoemaker declared the Board of Public Works meeting adjourned at 6:54 p.m.
