Fire Suppression

Hastings Fire and Rescue has 27 full time employees.  All of whom are trained to at least the Firefighter I level.  Confirmed building fires within the city limits will receive all persons on duty. Standard structure fire response is 1 engine, 1 aerial, 1 ambulance, and 1 chief officer. 

Due to the dangers, physical demand, and number of personnel needed to fight a fire, all working fires result in a 1-11 or 1 alarm.  This recalls all HFR personnel and pages Hastings Rural firefighters to come into the stations to cover their apparatus.  If the incident becomes large enough addition alarms are requested therefore bringing in other fire departments from in or around Adams County.
