Training Division
Preparedness begins with training.
The Hastings Fire & Rescue Training Division provides guidance and structure for daily crew training across all shifts. Training is designed to provide an average of two hours of instruction during each 24-hour operational period, helping ensure that all department members maintain and develop the skills required for emergency response.
Training guidelines and topics are selected by the Training Division, with study materials and operational direction provided to shift officers who conduct training evolutions with their crews.
Our training program incorporates recognized standards, guidance, and best practices from organizations including:
- OSHA
- NFPA
- National Fire Academy
- FEMA
- Nebraska Emergency Management Agency
- Local policies and procedures
Training requirements are continually evaluated against the department's emergency service responsibilities and the evolving needs of the community.
