Chief's Message

Welcome to the Hastings Fire & Rescue website. Our department was founded in 1878 and we are proud of our tradition of providing fire suppression, prevention, education, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and all aspects of rescue-related services to the residents and visitors in our community with our full-time staff of cross-trained personnel. We have an ISO rating 3. Our providers respond to the 13.67 square miles and more than 25,000 residents of Hastings, as well as rural mutual aid and medical intercepts.

It is our hope that you will find the information here useful and educational. Our department provides a range of services from two fire stations strategically located on the north and south sides of the city. Visit the links to the different divisions to see more about the services we provide, the apparatus we operate, and ways we can assist you in preventing fires and accidents.

Hastings Fire & Rescue has a long and proud history of service to the members of our community and our visitors. Twenty eight highly trained and skilled personnel work hard each day, along with up to 32 reserve members, to uphold the proud traditions of those who served before us and to uphold the Department's commitment and dedication to you now and in the future.

Sincerely,

Fire Chief Kent Gilbert
